Ontario is facing a growing shortage of anesthesiologists, physicians who play an essential role in our health-care system. This shortage is driving longer surgical wait times, overcrowding in hospitals, and worsening access to critical care. By providing sustained funding for Anesthesia Care Teams and allocating more funding to OHIP anesthesia fees, we can recruit and retain more anesthesiologists. This approach will ensure equitable access to all care areas across the province, improving surgical access and providing critical support in key areas such as labour and delivery, pain management, intensive care, and bolstering healthcare services in Northern Ontario.
